NRA Publications and Journals

NRA full members receive the quarterly Journal of Rehabilitation, an internationally-acclaimed scholarly journal on the cutting-edge of rehabilitation research. Members also receive Contemporary Rehab, the bi-monthly newsletter filled with the latest rehabilitation and membership news. Members also have the opportunity to purchase other NRA publications at reduced rates, such as the Switzer Monographs, a report from our annual seminar on the latest trends in rehabilitation; the Handbook for Rehabilitation Advocacy, designed to help you shape legislative policy and reform; and other special publications produced by NRA chapters, regions and divisions.



 Contemporary Rehab


Contemporary Rehab is the National Rehabilitation Association (NRA) membership's full color magazine/newsletter distributed bimonthly to 5,600 NRA members throughout the United States, Canada, Puerto Rico, Virgin Islands and eight foreign countries. Contemporary Rehab features an expanded format that keeps members informed on relevant legislative directives, trends in rehabilitation, and leadership activities on all levels - chapters, regions and divisions, training conferences, new products and services.

The Journal of Rehabilitation is an internationally acclaimed publication in the forefront of rehabilitation research for university professors, rehabilitation professionalism, and consumers. Editorial content reflects the broad perspectives of the Association's membership. Articles are written by professionals in the fields of rehabilitation and are peer-reviewed. Published quarterly by the National Rehabilitation Association, a nonprofit professional membership organization dedicated to improving the quality of life for people with disabilities.

Interested in submitting an article for publication in our Journal? 
Click here to view JOR article submission requirements. Articles are written by professionals in the field of rehabilitation, and are peer-reviewed. They should present, describe, and discuss rehabilitation concepts and related research. They should also follow the style requirements of the Publication Manual of the American Psychological Association.





 Journal of Applied Rehabilitation Counseling

The Journal of Applied Rehabilitation Counseling is published quarterly. The Journal is free to NRCA members in either a hard copy printed format or in a PDF or accessible MS Word format. 

For non-members, the subscription price for the hard copy printed format is $100.00 per year (Domestic) and $125.00 (Canadian and Foreign). Single issue copies are $25.00 (Domestic) and $35 ( Canadian and Foreign). Special issue copies are $35.00 (Domestic) and $45 (Canadian and Foreign). Please note, purchase of single issue copies, including special issues, are based on availability. 

 The Journal is also available in an electronic format either in a PDF or accessible MS Word version. The non-member subscription rate for either the PDF or accessible MS Word format is $50 per year, and the cost for single issues in electronic format is $25.
